FAQ

1. How much time should I expect my drywall repair to take? The duration of a drywall repair can vary, but a simple job may take up to two hours to complete. After the repair, it requires 24 hours to dry before it can be painted. More extensive repairs, such as larger ceiling repairs, could take 1-2 days.

2. How much will my drywall repair cost? The cost of drywall repair can range from $150 to $500 on average, depending on the extent of the damage, the type of repair needed, and the location. Ceiling repairs cost a little more than wall repairs. Fixing drywall cracks can range from $100 to $300. For small jobs less that one foot in size and minor fixes, drywall repair costs can be $100 - $200. Rocket Patch Drywall Repair always provides free estimates. Just text us a photo of the damage for a quote. For more extensive repairs, call 515-371-2209 to set up a appointment for an in-person quote.

3. What exactly is a drywall repair? Our team removes the failed or damaged drywall with a small vibrating blade. We then replace it with a new piece of drywall of the same thickness. The new patch then receives tape and three coats of drywall mud followed by a matching texture. The new patch will be almost invisible when fully repaired.

4. How long do I have to wait to paint the new drywall patch? Most drywall patches will be fully dry in 24-48 hours, ready to paint.

5. What is popcorn ceiling removal? For many years, popcorn (or acoustical) ceiling texture was very popular. Many older homes still have it today. If you are interested in a new, modern ceiling texture - Rocket Patch Drywall Repair can remove the old popcorn ceiling texture and replace it with a new texture. Knockdown texture, also known as Smooth Executive is commonly added to new homes and is a good choice to replace popcorn. The average cost is between $2.00-$3.00 per square foot and includes furniture moving, light fixture and ceiling fan removal and replacement, special plastic protection of all walls and cleanup. The cost of popcorn ceiling removal can be decreased by the home being unfurnished and ceiling height of less than 10 feet. The average popcorn ceiling removal and new texture application takes 3-4 days.

6. How many different kinds of drywall exist? There are several types of drywall, each suited for different applications. These include regular drywall, greenboard, and Type X, among others. Regular drywall is used in most rooms, while greenboard is moisture-resistant, making it suitable for damp areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Type X is fire-resistant and is often used in areas prone to high heat or on ceilings.

7. How do I get a quote for a drywall repair? In many cases, we can provide a very accurate estimate based on photos.
